Created by Amy Barnes in 2001, Funkify progressively expanded from 5 founding members to the 9-piece band it is today. The fabulous lead singer Pritee Hurnam joined the band in 2003 and wowed us all with her amazing Aretha-style voice. Drawing on her impressive show background, she always ensures Funkify put on a fantastic performance and plenty of audience participation is part of the show. In 2004 David Somerset Barnes joined us on male lead vocals, adding a new dimension to the music with his stylish vocals - think Stevie Wonder meets Jamiroquai…

Funkify continue to develop our own song list of full-on funk and soul numbers, with a modern take on many classic grooves by artists including James Brown, Aretha Franklin and Stevie Wonder. We have also funkified recent chart hits such as Maroon 5’s “This Love” and Beyoncé’s “Work It Out”. We are always adding to our repertoire and performing new numbers which play on the strengths of the band. We play requests and can even play your favourite song or the first dance at your wedding… keep on playin’ that Funky music!
